Medical Suite for Veteran Healthcare
Situated within FDR Veterans Affairs Medical Campus and overlooking the Hudson River the Acute Psychiatric Nursing Ward #4AB and #4CD occupies the entire first and second floor of Building #4. The upgraded design required a total gut renovation of both floors.
Designed within a strict budget, and through careful planning and creative use of colors, finishes, and materials, Ting + Li Architects created a combined 70 patient capacity dining and daytime activity space featuring an abundance of natural light and views to the Medical Campus and river. Artificial lighting and ceiling conditions were designed to mimic day lighting conditions to relieve the feel of confinement and enhance psychiatric recovery. To organize axillary spaces and alleviate patient disorientation issues TLA created centralized corridors distinguished by light colors and the patterned resilient flooring.
