Encore West Residence

Encore West Residence is a housing project in the Clinton District of midtown Manhattan which addresses the need for affordable housing for very low income seniors, 62 years of age and older. Funding for the project was secured through a capital grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
The site is a combination of 5 vacant lots located in the middle of the block. As part of the Clinton Comprehensive Community Plan, our client was encouraged to develop affordable elderly housing while preserving the character of the community. The eight-story bearing wall and plank construction provides eighty-four (84) fully-equipped
studio apartments with kitchenettes. Also provided are laundry facilities, a library, a multipurpose community room, and other amenities in a safe, secure and caring environment. The first floor
contains the entry lobby, a recreation room, a rear garden, and one apartment unit for the
building manager.
